Who We Are
Passion Community Church has been serving the Lynchburg Area for over 70 years, as a part of the Church of God. Originally known as Lynchburg Church of God, we moved to our current location on Breezewood Drive in 1981. In 2009, Pastor Mike became the Lead Pastor. The Lord has used his leadership, along with his wife, Kelli, to bring a new season of growth for our church.
Passion Community has transitioned from being a church of 25 people in 2009, to being a community of 350+ in 2019. Our desire is to see the City of Lynchburg transformed by the Gospel of Jesus, one person at a time. We believe that we are called to serve our community with the love of Jesus and we would love to invite you to partner with us in doing so. We believe that the church is meant to consist of people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and soci-economic statuses. We are not a perfect church but with every person that partners with us, we come one step closer to the church that God has called us to be.
We are a community of disciples who are passionate about seeing lives transformed by Jesus.
We desire to be a reflection of our community that reaches our community with the hope of the Gospel.
We care for people by inviting them to:
Authentic community encourages people to belong. You can belong here before you believe.
Acts 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Growing people move forward. The church exists to challenge people to take their next steps to move forward in discipleship and development.
Ephesians 4:12 “equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”
We impact people with our passion by the way we:
Saved people are called to serve people. Living passionate lives impacts the lives of others.
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve…”
Found people find people- our Passion compels us to give Love and Joy to our community and our world.
1 Corinthians 13:8 “Love never fails.”
Our faith makes an impact as we:
By faith, we seek to Experience Genuine Encounters with God (We want God to do something in us) and Greater Expectations (We want God to do something through us).
Matthew 21:13 “My house will be called a house of prayer.”
We practice radical generosity as Individuals (Partners) and as a Community. Our real Faith compels us to live for more than ourselves.
2 Samuel 24:24 “ I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that His love and sacrifice on the Cross changes our lives and gives us a hope beyond this life!
